Let the Games Begin! AISL Announces 2007-08 Schedule!

This morning, the American Indoor Soccer League proudly released its game schedule for the 2007-08 season, the league’s fifth.

“I think that this is a schedule that is definitely attractive to everyone,” said AISL commissioner/CEO Paul Lapointe. “We’ve developed a tradition of ‘Saturday Night Soccer’, and through the work of Dave Bavis of the Cincinnati Excite front office who spent many hours coordinating the dates provided by our owners, we’ve come up with a schedule that appeals to our players, the teams, and our supporters.”

Twenty-nine of the thirty-two AISL regular season games will be played on Saturday nights, with the remaining three games being played as Sunday afternoon matinees.

Four of the AISL’s five clubs for 2007-08, the Cincinnati Excite, the Northern Illinois Rebels, the new Rockford Rampage, and the league’s defending champion, the Massachusetts Twisters will play a full schedule consisting of seven home games and seven road games. The fifth team, the Tulsa Revolution, will play an abbreviated schedule of four home and four road games.

For the first time in AISL history, there will be two games played on the league’s opening night, which will take place on November 3rd. AISL Kickoff ’07 will feature the Rampage traveling to Cincinnati to face the Excite at the Game Time Training Center, and the Northern Illinois Rebels will host the Massachusetts Twisters at the Lake County Sports Center in Waukegan, IL.

The Rampage will be playing their home games at the new Victory Sports Arena on North Alpine Rd in Loves Park. The new team’s logo and colors will be released this month.

The Tulsa Revolution will open their inaugural AISL campaign on Saturday night, January 5th when they will host the Cincinnati Excite at Soccer City Tulsa.

The 2008 AISL Championship Game, which will have the regular season champion hosting the second place team, will be held on March 15th.

Due to their abbreviated schedule, the Revolution will not be eligible for the 2008 championship.
