Revs Name Tama Aondofar Assistant Coach
| |  | | | Adam Mellor, the president of the American Indoor Soccer League’s Tulsa Revolution, announced this afternoon that long-time Tulsa area soccer coach Tama Aondofar will serve as the team’s assistant coach for the 2007-08 season.
A native of Nigeria, Aondofar brings a solid resume to the club both as a player and as coach and program director. He played for the BCC Lions, a first division team in Gboko, Nigeria. While with the Lions, he played on the side that won the African Cup Winners Cup in 1990. He was also a member of the Nigerian Junior National Team, and also spent time in the youth program of famed English club Aston Villa.
He came to Tulsa in 1991 to go to school at Oral Roberts University, where he was a scholastic All-American, and after graduating, was named to the ORU Sports Hall of Fame.
After graduating, he remained in Tulsa, playing with the Tulsa Roughnecks of the United Soccer League. It was in Tulsa where he began his distinguished coaching career. He coached the Oklahoma state Olympic Developmental Program team, the girls program at Bishop Kelly High School (where he won the State 4A championship in 1999), a short stint as the coach at Oral Roberts, and with the Tulsa Roughnecks.
Aondofar currently holds a USSF “A” Coaching License, and was a Nigerian national staff coach in 2001 and 2002.
The Revolution will open up their inaugural AISL season on January 5, 2008 when they host the Cincinnati Excite at Soccer City Tulsa.
