Rampage Sign Brazilian Veteran Amarildo “Rillo” Oliveira

  
 
) Oscar Albuquerque, president of the American Indoor Soccer League’s Rockford Rampage, announced this afternoon the signing of 37-year-old Amarildo “Rillo” Oliveira, a Brazilian veteran who has played both outdoors as well as futsal in his native country.

“Rillo” played futsal (a small sided game played on a basketball-court sized “pitch”) from 1984-89 with SEV Vila Maria, where he was a member of three state champion teams. He also played futsal with another Brazilian team, NEC Arsenal in 1990 and 1994.

Outdoors, he has played in Brazil with XV Novembro Jau, Atletico, Jacarei, and Paulistano. Those clubs competed in that country’s first and second divisions.

In 1995, Oliveira moved to the US to join the Rockford Raptors of the United Soccer League. He played with the Raptors for three years, earning all-league honors in 1998. In 1999, he moved to the USL’s Indiana Blast for one season.

In addition to playing with the Rampage, “Rillo” also is the director of coaching at the Rockford United Soccer Club.

The Rampage will open the 2007-08 season on November 3rd, when they face the Cincinnati Excite at the Game Time Training Center in Cincinnati. They will open the home portion of the campaign on Saturday night, November 17th at 7:30PM when they host the defending AISL champion Massachusetts Twisters.
