Rampage Hammer Excite 8-1 in AISL League Opener

The Rockford Rampage showed that they plan on being one of the teams to beat in the American Indoor Soccer League this season when they defeated the Cincinnati Excite 8-1 at the Game Time Training Center.

“Today the guys made a statement,” said Rampage coach Jeff Kraft after the game. “They knew what it would take to beat the Excite here. It’s always a tough building to play in, and we were obviously motivated. We just have to take it one game at a time.”

“It was a good game all around for us,” said Rampage ‘keeper Dimitri Meletis, who had a spectacular game between the pipes. “Everything just fell together.”

Bato Radoncic and Ante Cop each scored twice for the Rampage (1-0), and Mike Rigas, Bojan Jovicic, Zlatko Zebic, and Novi Marojevic each scored once. Jack Cummings scored the only goal for the Excite (0-1).

Dimitri Meletis got the win in goal for the Rampage, and Jim Adams took the loss for the Excite.

The Excite will host the defending Massachusetts Twisters next Saturday night at the Game Time Training Center. The Rampage will travel to Waukegan for the inaugural game of the Northern Illinois Rebels on Saturday night as well. Both games will kick off at 7:30 local time.
