Rebels Defeat Waukegan Cosmos 8-0 in Final Pre-Season Tune Up
| | | | | In their final pre-season game, the American Indoor Soccer League’s Northern Illinois Rebels defeated the Waukegan Cosmos 8-0 at the Lake County Sports Center Saturday night.
The Cosmos are the defending champions in the Waukegan Soccer League.
Six Rebels scored in the winning effort: Sinisa Alebic, Marvin Ibarra, Carlos Marquez, Jaime Morote, Boris Maric, and Rafael Beretta.
“We were able to execute a solid offensive performance,” said Rebels coach Salvador Morote. “I was also very happy that we were able to keep our net free. I was able to evaluate our starting players, and was able to take a look at a number of players who are working to get a spot on the team.”
The Rebels will play their inaugural regular season game this Saturday night at the Lake County Sports Center when they host their in-state rivals, the Rockford Rampage at 7:30PM. The Rampage defeated the Cincinnati Excite last Saturday night 8-1 to open their 2007-08 AISL campaign.
The Rebels will open their inaugural AISL campaign on Saturday November 10th at 7:30 when they face the Rockford Rampage at the Lake County Sports Center (351 Oakwood Ave) in Waukegan. Tickets for the game are $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for children and senior citizens, and are available through the Rebels office and at the Sports Center box office on game night.
