Record Setting Night in Rockford! Bato’s 7 Goals Help Propel Rampage over Twisters

The Rockford Rampage kicked off the home portion of their 2007-08 American Indoor Soccer League schedule with a “bang” as they hammered the Massachusetts Twisters 23-15 in front of 576 at the Victory Sports Complex in Loves Park, IL.

The Rampage were led by 2007 AISL Most Valuable Player Bato Radoncic, who set a league record with seven goals, eclipsing the old mark of five goals, most recently reached by Cincinnati’s Matt Brienes last week against the Twisters.

“I couldn’t have done this without my teammates,” said Radoncic after the game. “It was just incredible. Just an enjoyable night.”

The 23 points by the Rampage (3-0) tied a league record for most points in a game, and the38 combined points broke a league record, both set in the 2002-03 season.

In addition, Rampage midfielder Novi Marojevic set a league record of his own, with nine assists, five of which were on goals by Radoncic.

The Twisters (0-2) were led by Nick Burke, who scored a hat trick with three goals (1 two-pointer and 2 one-pointers).

DimitrI Meletis earned the win in goal for the Rampage, and Adam Perron took the loss for the Twisters.

The two teams will tangle again next Saturday night, when the Twisters host the Rampage at the Eastern States Coliseum in Springfield at 7:30.
