Excite Return Home to Double Up Rebels 14-7

The Cincinnati Excite played their first home game in almost two months and rewarded the season high crowd of 576 with a 14-7 win over the Northern Illinois Rebels last night at the Game Time Training Center in Fairfield.

Matt Brienes led the Excite (4-4) with a two-point goal and two one-point goals. “We kept possession. Everything is counterattack. That’s what it’s all about and I’m pretty happy about that,” Brienes said.

Jack Cummings and Craig Rhodis also scored a pair of one-point goals for the Excite.

For the Rebels (2-5), Marvin Ibarra scored two one-point goals and added an assist while Igor Stijepic scored two one-point goals as well.

“We came disorganized and we lost our focus, and we need to do better on that”.
said Rebels head coach Salvador Morote.

Jim Adams picks up the win for the Excite while Tommy Hassan takes the loss for the Rebels.

The Excite have the next two weeks off, with their next game on February 2nd, at home against the league leading Rockford Rampage. The Rebels will host the Massachusetts Twisters for the second time in 13 days this Saturday night.
