Nine Is Fine for Rampage! League Leaders Defeat Rebels 11-4

The Rockford Rampage took one more step towards their first ever American Indoor Soccer League regular season championship this evening after they defeated the Northern Illinois Rebels 11-4 in front of a crowd of 611 at the Victory Sports Complex in Loves Park, IL.

“I think it’s all coming together at the right time,” said Rampage (9-0) coach Jeff Kraft. “The guys have their eyes on the title, and I think this team has the right ingredients to do something special.”

Erik Lukin, Zlatko Zebic, and Novi Marojevic led the Rampage scoring with two one-point goals each. Bato Radoncic chipped in a one-pointer as well.

Boris Maric, Vinyo Ntueto, Rafael Beretta, and Alex Pavon each contributed a one-point goal in the losing effort for the Rebels (2-6).

Should the Rampage win in Cincinnati next Saturday night, they will clinch the AISL’s regular season championship, and will host the league’s 2008 Championship Game on March 15th.

The Rebels will have a bye next weekend, and will return to the field on February 9th when they will host the Tulsa Revolution at the Lake County Sports Center in Waukegan.
