Revs Win First! Defeat Twisters 7-6 With Last Second Shootout

The American Indoor Soccer League’s Tulsa Revolution won their first ever game 7-6 tonight over the Massachusetts Twisters at the Eastern States Coliseum in one of the most dramatic finishes in league history.
With less than ten seconds to go, Revs ‘keeper Sonny Dalesandro (pictured)came out of goal, and was fouled, putting the Twisters over the quarterly foul limit. Mike Leung converted the shootout giving the Revs (1-2) the win.
“We had to fight for this one,” said a jubilant Revolution president Adam Mellor after the game.
The game drew a league high attendance for the year of 1218.
“Big crowd, great game,” said Twisters owner Paul Lapointe. “It’s a shame we couldn’t pull it out, but all marks to the Revolution. They’re a class team, and a great addition to the league.”
Twisters ‘keeper Paul Dellostritto took a knock to the head during the game, but returned later on, bandaged up. Lapointe said that Dellostritto would be getting stitched up afterwards.
Franco and Tony Catiearra and Jeff Deren were among the scorers for the Twisters (2-6), and Michael Poneys, Emerson Aguilera, and Bryant Scrapper were amongst the scorers for the Revolution.
The Twisters will return to the field next Saturday night when they head to Tulsa to face the Revolution.
