Rampage Clinch Regular Season Title, Win 5-4 in OT in Cincinnati

  
 
The Rockford Rampage won their tenth straight game, and in doing so, clinched the AISL Regular Season Championship and will host the 2008 AISL Championship Game on Saturday, March 15th with a 5-4 overtime win against the Cincinnati Excite in front of a season high crowd of 615 at the Game Time Training Center in Fairfield, OH.

Forward Zlatko Zebic led the Rampage with three goals, and scoring the game winner three and a half minutes into the extra session. Ante Cop and Eric Lukin each scored for the Rampage as well.

“Cincinnati’s a great team, and we knew it was going to be a battle, said Rampage head coach Jeff Kraft.

The Excite got one-point goals from Matt Brienes, John Cipriani, Jeff Henderson, and Shawn Rockey.

Dimitri Meletis picks up the win in goal for Rockford. Zac Van Frank takes the loss for Cincinnati.

The Rampage will play their next two games against the Chicago Storm of the Major Indoor Soccer League. On Tuesday, February 5th, the Rampage will travel to Chicago to play the Storm at the Sears Centre, and then on Saturday, February 9th, the Rampage will host the Storm at the Victory Sports Complex.

The Excite will play their next game on Saturday, February 9th against the Massachusetts Twisters at the Eastern States Coliseum in Springfield.
