Twisters Get Revenge On Revs With 14-7 Victory
The Massachusetts Twisters ended a three game losing streak last night in an emphatic fashion with a 14-7 pounding of the Tulsa Revolution in front of a crowd of 703 at Soccer City Tulsa.
“We needed this game badly,” said Twisters coach Rob Libera after the game. “We’ve still got a shot at this thing, and tonight showed that we have it in us to make a run at the championship game.”
Kyle Texiera bagged a career-high four goals in the winning effort for the Twisters (3-6), including a two-point tally in the fourth quarter. Jeff Deren chipped in three goals, including a deuce of his own.
Jesse Williams led the scoring for the Revs (1-3) with a two-pointer and a one-pointer. Michael Poneys scored a two-pointer, and Dave Leung and Kevin Drouillard each added a one pointer.
Paul Dellostritto earned the win in goal for the Twisters, making 18 saves on 32 Tulsa shots. Steven Hendrix took the loss in goal for the Revs, making 18 saves as well.
The Twisters return to the field next Saturday night when they host the Cincinnati Excite at the Eastern States Coliseum at 7:30PM EST. The Revolution will play a pair of games next weekend, when they travel to Waukegan to take on the Northern Illinois Rebels Saturday night at 7:30PM CST, and will face the league leading Rockford Rampage in Rockford on Sunday afternoon at 1:00PM CST.
