Week 15 Recap-It's Settled (Finally)

The weekend's wild weather played havoc with the AISL, but when the dust settled, the two participants in the 2008 American Indoor Soccer League Championship Game were finally settled.

In Springfield, the Massachusetts Twisters put the end to the Rockford Rampage's dreams of perfection on Saturday night, when the defending league champions defeated the Rampage 10-4 in front of over 1400 at the Big E.

Kyle Texiera led the scoring for the Twisters with five goals, including a two-pointer.

The crowd at the Coliseum was the largest of the season in the AISL.

Meanwhile, the nost effective defense the Northern Illinois Rebels could put up was the one provided by Mother Nature. The Cincinnati Excite, who were scheduled to finish their 2007-08 regular season in Waukegan, were stranded in the after Friday afternoon's blizzard dumped over a foot of snow into the Queen City. After consulting with league management, it was determined for the safety of the Excite players, the game would be canceled, and if needed, would be made up.

However, the Twisters' Saturday night victory made the point a moot one.

This season's title game is a rematch of last season's tilt, where the Twisters won their first AISL championship 11-5 over the Ranpage, who were then known as the Thunder. This will be the first championship game rematch in league history.

Tickets for the championship game are available through the team office at (847) 507-5840 and at the Victory Sports Complex on Saturday evening.
