Twisters Looking For New Ownership, Going on Hiatus for 2008-09 Season

(Cleveland, OH-June 14, 2008) At the conclusion of the American Indoor Soccer League owners meeting in Rockford, AISL President Paul Lapointe announced that the Massachusetts Twisters franchise are looking for a new ownership group so he can concentrate more on the AISL.

The Twisters are the sole remaining charter franchise from the AISL's inaugural season of 2002-03.

"As you might expect, this decision has been a gut-wrenching one for Cathy and myself, "said Lapointe. "We have put eleven years of effort into making the Twisters a quality indoor soccer organization. However, we just came to the conclusion that between operating the Twisters and running the day-to-day operations of the AISL, we can no longer put the required effort into making both entities successful at the same time. So, I feel that at this time, we are better served by putting all of our energies into orienting the league office into a smoother run operation for our team owners"

"We hope to bring the Twisters back into the American Indoor Soccer League when we establish new ownership and more teams here in the North East. This will also give the AISL a chance to develop a solid North East Division which will make the team more of a success for years to come."

"I would like to thank the players and coaching staff, as well as the volunteers and fans who make the Coliseum come alive for Twisters games.

The Twisters were the 2007 AISL Cup Champions, defeating the Rockford Rampage in front of a crowd of nearly two thousand at the Eastern States Coliseum. The two clubs met again for the 2008 AISL Cup, with the Rampage coming out on top last March.
