Rockford Rampage!

Rockford RampageFor 2007-2008, Rockford indoor soccer fans will welcome the Rockford Rampage, who will make their home at a larger facility, the Victory Sports Arena at 7003 N. Alpine Road Loves Park, IL. The Rampage will look to continue their success and strive to take this year's championship.

The team's first match will be on Nov. 3, 2007 against the Excite in Cincinnati. The Excite will be without Mike McGinlay this winter, as he left Cincinnati to play for Bohemians in Ireland.

The Northern Illinois Derby will begin this season when the Rockford Rampage face the Northern Illinois Rebels in Waukegan on Nov. 10, 2007.

The team's home debut will come on Nov. 17, 2007, when the Rampage face the Massachusetts Twisters, who took home the championship last season.

Company President Oscar Albuquerque is quite familiar with the North American soccer tradition. Albuquerque played in the North American Soccer League for various teams, including Toronto Metros-Croatia and the Chicago Sting. Albuquerque also played for the Canadian National Team. Kraft's indoor soccer playing career features stops with the MISL's Kansas City Comets in 1987, and a three year stint with the AISA's Hershey (PA) Impact. His coaching resume includes one year with the MISL's Chicago Storm, where he worked with Albuquerque.

Brett Holmertz is the club's trainer. Holmertz graduated from Rockford College in 2001 and is an Illinois Liscensed Athletic Trainder. He is also a certified member of the National Athletics Trainers' Association and is certified with the O.D.P. Holmertz played soccer for Rockford College and was an All-Conference Athlete in the Northern Illinois and Iowa Conference twice.

PA Announcer Howard Balson is the latest edition to the Rockford Rampage staff. Balson is a resident of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and will make his Rampage debut on November 18th at the ISC when the Rampage takes on the Cincinnati Excite in the American Indoor Soccer League home opener. Balson has also been a play-by-play voice of many different soccer teams around Chicago (including The Sting, The Chicago Power, and The Chicago Fire) and the on a national basis.

Nate Covert is the media assistant with the Rampage. The recent honors graduate of Carroll College in Waukesha,WI handled the AISL's media release last year in the 9-8 win over the Cincinnati Excite. He wrote for The Carroll College New Perspective newspaper, has written articles for the AISL, maintains the Rampage's MySpace site, keeps game statistics, and performs various other tasks for the team.
