WOW!!
What a weekend in New Mexico
when the Storm faced off
with the Excite for a playoff
game that would give either
team a birth to the first
ever AISL championship match
in Canada against the Stars
on March 19th.
It was a battle right from the start with both teams out of the gate on fire.
The New Mexico home crowd electrified the atmosphere to help break down the Excites
game plan. The match ended up 5 to 3 in favor of the Excite. This game will go
down in the archives of the AISL as the most exciting game of the year. Congratulations
to both teams.

Players
of the game go to Goalie Big Dan Huerta, who minutes into the third
quarter took a crushing kick to the face and came up with a save
and no teeth. Rushed to the oral surgeon right away, his teeth were
sewn back in, and all Big Dan could ask was "will I be able
to play next Saturday"? That's taking one for the team!!! Get
yourself well Danny, We'll be here for you!! After Big Dan was taken
off the field, Goalie Stewart Richardson stepped up to the box with
three tremendous saves in the third and fourth quarter. What a night
to shine for Stewart and our hats are off to him for keeping the
Stars at bay.
The Storm
now gears up for the match of the season with Cincinnati in what
promises to be the game of the year. The winner of this game travels
to Canada for a chance to win the cup!!! The Storm and The Excite
are both looking for a win, so it looks like another intense night

On
February 19th The New Mexico
Storm faced off with the Mass
Twisters at the Coliseum in
West Springfield Massachusetts. The
Largest crowd of the season
for the Twisters checked
in with a game that featured,
make some noise night! The
first 300 fans were issued
thunder sticks to support
the
home team. WOW! did they
ever. 1200 plus was on hand
to see
the Twisters and the Storm
show case the Talent of the
AISL. Both teams were on
fire and came out with all
guns
loaded. The Twisters were
fired up behind Player coach
# 7
Rob Libera who has been with
the Twisters since 1998.
Libera informed his team
mates this
would be his last game with
the squad for some time.
How fitting for Libera who
will
be missed to bang in the
game winner infront of his
home
crowd. The Twisters won 7-5
in a rough match that could
spoil the chances for the
Storm to chase the cup. #
7 Libera
was MVP of the Match.

Twisters
ousted from AISL cup chase. The
New Mexico Storm took the wind
out of the Mass Twisters this
weekend in New Mexico at the
Plex. The
capacity crowd was behind the
Storm all the way. Coach Clinch
of the Storm said "Finally my team
looks like they have come together." The
struggling Twisters find themselves
for the first time in years not
contending for a title. The match
ended up 4 to 1 in favor of the
Storm. This puts the Storm right
in the hunt for the AISL cup.
Out in Cincinnati the Border Stars took on the the home team Excite and came
up with a win 7 to 5. This puts the Excite in a must win situation for the remainder
of the season. The Storm will travel to Massachusetts this weekend for a critical
match to remain in contention. The Stars host an exhibition match with London
Canada of the CPSL, a AISL hopeful for next season.
The Chase is on! for the AISL cup.

The
Mass Twisters break through their losing
streak, in front of their best crowd of the
season. The
action packed night, that featured a benefit
game for Molly Bish and save the children
was a success. Mike Russo of the Twisters,
a power forward found the net twice early
in the match and put the Twisters on a spinning
course to victory. The Storm kicked up the
pace at half time when coach Peter Clinch
intensified his crew to find the back of
the net. Brent Dillard, head coach of the
Twisters had other thoughts in mind, "A
shut out" and that is exactly what happened.
The Twisters suddenly changed their defense
and took all options away from New Mexico
for scoring chances. Phil Torres, the Twisters
Keeper had 21 saves and The Twisters won
8 to 0. Mark Buschini, Dan Parks with 2 goals,
Manny Goncalves and Andrew Heald all tallied
goals to lock in the Twisters first win.
Phil
Torres: mvp player of the match.

Tami Pecheco of the
New Mexico Storm starts off with standing room only and
packs the house, when they faced off with the 2nd place
Cincinnati Excite in New Mexico. The Storm
players were so pumped up in front their first time home
crowd, losing was not acceptable. This game is what the
AISL is all about. End to end indoor soccer action with
a great family atmosphere. Tami has endured all obstacles
in that market, and has proved her staff, team and market
are winners. The Storm knocked off the Excite 8 to 5 and
now put themselves right smack in the hunt for the AISL
cup.
> January 8,

The
New Mexico Storm touched down in Michigan to face off with the Border
Stars in Canada. The capacity crowd was behind the
home team all the way. The Storm had a rough start adjusting to the
Stars team right from the get go. The match ended up 14 to 4 in favor
of the the Stars. The Stars now 2 and 0 tied with the Excite play
for the top spot in the league standings this weekend. The Storm
look for their first win at home on January 22nd when they face off
with the Excite. "Playing at this level, our first match I knew
would be a great challenge for this young team " Coach Clinch
of the Storm responds"
It
was an exciting game to watch with many players involved in the
goal scoring. Dave Dwaihy scored 4 goals and had 2 assists, Tino
Scicluna had 3 goals and 2 assist, Tati Errecalde added 2 goals
and 4 assists. Alan Placek had a shut out in his minutes of game
time. With a few of the other players taking part in increasing
the lead, it was a great team effort by all with the goal scoring
almost going full circle.

NM announced today it's Coach of the Year, none other than
our very own Pete Clinch. Pete was born in Coventry, England and played soccer in elementary
school and highschool. He was the captain of the team and represented
Coventry School Boys Select, which is comprised of the top 15 players.
He also represented his country and was a pro school player and a
division one player. He was signed by Oxford United at the age of
16 where he played for 10 years.
In 1976,
Pete signed with the Boston Minute Men and came to America to play.
During the season he was injured and forced to stop playing, so he
decided to come to New Mexico where he had relatives.
Pete has been in New Mexico coaching for 27 years, all levels, men and women.
He has coached at Academy, a elite private school for 17 years. During his
tenure at Academy his boys have made State finals every year. He has been named
Coach of the year 8 times and Regional Coach once. He has also coached for
The Rio Grande Youth Soccer Club for 10 years and during that time he graduated
150 girls to college programs. During that time the level of performance was
so outstanding amounst these girls that the combined dollar amount of scholarships
for womens soccer was close to 3 million. That was unheard of in that time
and Pete was responsible for helping change the face of girls soccer.
In 2004,
Pete coached the Asylum, a start up outdoor semi-pro team, to the
playoffs in their first season. In late summer 2004, Pete made the
decision to join the NM Storm, and move to a different level of the
game. Pete say's he's very excited about the opportunity to be part
of a professional organization and looks forward to this new chapter
in his life.
